PowerCom’s Smart Electricity Meters and Home Utility Gateway (“HUG”) devices act as a smart interface and data aggregator to integrate and manage electricity, water and gas metering in a single system using the PLC infrastructure. These units’ route between different meter types (water, gas, electricity, and other smart devices) located in the home and the utility’s AMI communications network for data transmission. The device essentially provides a common PLC port for all connected devices within a single home or group homes in close proximity.

This facilitates electricity companies acting as gas and water data aggregators in order to provide a Single Point-Multi Utility Metering & Billing solution. The utility company can gain steady income and high profitability providing the electricity infrastructure as communication to water, gas utilities. This business model will generate extra income to the utility company without impact on its operation or maintenance cost.

Uplink & downlink communication supported include PLC (CENELC/PRIME/G3), RF (850-950Mhz), serial communication (RS485), GPRS, and LAN technology.
Each smart meter and HUG can serve as a master meter for 12 slave meters.
The devices also offer a field replaceable hot swappable communications module, offering an excellent solution for utilities which may need a great deal of future flexibility in communication methods.
